Disputes in the East Sea: Current status and prospect

This article touches upon the recent events in the East Seas and the screening of the Philippines’ legal case against China at the Arbitral Tribunal in line with UNCLOS 1982. The preparation for the case has been going on for over 2 years, despite China’s blunt refusal to cooperate with the Tribunal. July 2015 saw the final stages in the Hague – litigation. So far, in various forms, the offender and plaintiff (with additional documents that fail to recognize the jurisdiction of the Tribunal) have made clear to the public their concrete reasoning on the demand voiced in the submitted legal case and documents against them. They represent fundamental interests for those related to the events happening in this region.
