Viet Nam's employment and jobs when the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) was formed in 2015

ASEAN is currently viewed as the world’s most dynamic region recording the highest growth rate and encompassing 10 countries, the population of 625 million that accounts for 8.6% of the world’s population. The ASEAN Charter states that one of the ASEAN’s objectives is to ensure that ASEAN members and people live in peace and in an equal, democratic and harmonized environment; to promote democracy, good governance and rule by law, to intensify and protect human rights and fundamental rights of freedom,, with due respect to rights and responsibilities of ASEAN member states. The ASEAN socio-cultural community is one of the three pillars of the ASEAN Community that is characterized by harmony, solidarity, sharing and service for people, care for physical health and welfare, improving living environment for people and building a common identity for the region. This article presents opportunities and challenges for Vietnam’s employment and jobs when ASCC took effect on 31 December 2015.
