Academician M. L. Titarenko and Viet Nam

The academician M. L. Titarenco, Director of the Far East Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences and a researcher on Chinese studies renowned not only in Russia but also all over the world, passed away on 25 February 2016, aged 82. For Vietnamese scientists, he was, in his lifetime, a close friend and was very open to share the findings of his studies that were useful to Vietnam. He was, more than once, a visiting scholar to Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received many Vietnamese delegations, including those from Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Far East Institute in Moscow. After his decease, there have appeared many articles, written by Russian scientists who worked closely with him over the years, on his life and career – an outstanding scientist and a loyal friend to Vietnam. This article presents his contribution to friendship relations between the former Soviet Union, the current Federation of Russia, and Vietnam.
