Combination of Strength of the Nation and that of the Times in New Situation

This is a lesson running through the Vietnamese people’s struggle. The lesson was reaffirmed in the Platform for National Construction in the Transition to Socialism. The Platform also pointed out that it is necessary to closely combine national and international factors. History has shown that no nations can be islands to themselves. Nowadays, when nations are ever more closely interdependent, this combination takes on greater significance. The author reviewed how the Communist Party of Vietnam has brought into play the combination. The Party advocates cooperation along the lines of “Vietnam being a reliable friend and partner” of all nations in the world.

Four lessons were drawn, first the Vietnamese revolution should be placed in the general context of world revolution, second the Vietnamese revolution should be positioned correctly in world revolution, third there should be broad solidarity and cooperation with other nations and lastly special attention should be paid to endogenous strength. Attention should be paid to understanding of the combination as the resonance of national and international factors to achieve a certain objective, national strength as the strength of the state and people of all strata etc. In all these, we should also understand that endogenous and exogenous factors are sometimes intertwined, closely associated with each other etc. Measures should also be taken to effectively combine the two strengths.
